FAQ
What is graphic recording or live illustration?
Graphic recording is when I listen carefully to what’s being said and turn it into drawings and keywords live, in real time. You’ll see your ideas appear as illustrations, icons, and visual stories that make everything easier to understand and remember. Some people also call this live illustration, visual note-taking, or visual facilitation.
Do you work in person or online?
I work in three different ways, depending on what fits your event best. I can join you on-site and draw live in the room, I can work fully remotely during online meetings and virtual conferences, or I can join an in-person event online as a remote graphic recorder. In remote and hybrid setups, graphic recording integrates smoothly with platforms like Zoom, Teams, or Meet, allowing participants to watch the visuals develop live on screen. In every case, you receive carefully refined, high-quality digital artwork after the event.
What kinds of events do I work at?
work at a wide range of events, including conferences, workshops, trainings, strategy sessions, panel discussions, community gatherings, and online meetings. Graphic recording works just as well in small, intimate settings as it does at large-scale international events. I collaborate with charities, cultural organizations, businesses, and government institutions alike. Whenever people are coming together to share ideas and you want those ideas to be clearly understood and remembered, graphic recording can make a real difference.
Is graphic recording only for creative or informal events?
Not at all. Many of my clients work in corporate, educational, nonprofit, or public sector environments. Graphic recording is especially helpful when topics are complex, abstract, or emotionally charged. Visuals bring clarity and structure while keeping the conversation human and accessible.
What do I actually draw during an event?
I draw the key messages, connections, and important emotions of the conversation — not every word! My goal is to capture what really matters and turn it into a clear, friendly visual summary that reflects the energy and meaning of your event.
What will you receive after the event?
After the event, you’ll receive high-quality digital files of the completed visuals. No matter whether I work digitally or draw by hand on paper, every graphic recording is carefully digitized so you receive a clear, high-resolution, print-ready version. The visuals can be used for internal documentation, presentations, reports, websites, or social media. If needed, I’m happy to adapt them to different formats, so they remain useful and relevant long after the event has ended.
Do you work internationally or travel for events?
Yes, I do. I’m based in Budapest, but I regularly travel across Europe for graphic recording projects. Whenever possible, I choose more environmentally friendly travel options, such as trains or other low-impact solutions. For longer distances, Budapest Airport usually offers very good flight connections, which makes international projects efficient and accessible. If you’re planning an event outside Hungary, feel free to reach out — I’m very used to working across borders and cultures.
How does full visual coverage work?
Full visual coverage can work in a couple of different ways, depending on your goals and budget. In a cost-effective setup, I work together with Zsolt, who is both a photographer and videographer. He focuses on capturing the most important moments, visuals, and atmosphere of the event. If you need more extensive video content — for example, different formats or styles for multiple platforms — I recommend bringing Tina along as well. As a second shooter, she allows us to capture more perspectives and create richer visual material. Together, we can cover everything from live illustrations to photos and video in a well-coordinated way.
Do you take on custom illustration projects as well?
Absolutely. Alongside live graphic recording, I also create custom illustrations tailored to specific needs. This can include infographics, team vision illustrations, visual summaries of achievements, or explanatory visuals for complex topics. My illustrations have been used in print exhibitions, pitch decks, reports, presentations, and educational materials. Each project is approached thoughtfully, with a focus on clarity, storytelling, and visual consistency.
Why is it worth having full visual coverage managed by me?
You get a cohesive visual story. Because I understand the content, the flow of the event, and your communication goals, I can coordinate the graphic recording, photography, and video so they truly support each other. This results in consistent visuals, smoother collaboration, and less coordination work for you. It also means you can focus fully on your event, knowing that the visual documentation is in experienced hands. Everything is aligned, thoughtfully captured, and ready to be used long after the event — whether for communication, reporting, or sharing your story with a wider audience.
Do you work alone, or with a team?
Most of the time, I work solo as a graphic recorder, but I often collaborate with trusted professionals when a project benefits from it. Typically, this means working alongside a photographer and/or videographer to capture the atmosphere, key moments, and visual outputs of the event. I have a small, reliable team based in Budapest, and if you’re looking for full visual coverage, I can bring everything together for you. I also sometimes work in tandem graphic recording setups, especially at larger events. In these cases, I collaborate with some of the best graphic recorders in Hungary. We’re a small country with only a handful of professionals in this field, which means I know exactly who to invite when high-quality collaboration is needed.
How far in advance should I book graphic recording?
It’s always best to get in touch as early as you can, especially for conferences or international events. That said, if your event is coming up soon, feel free to reach out anyway — if I’m available, I’m happy to see how we can make it work. Early planning also allows more time for preparation and alignment.
What languages do you work in?
I work comfortably in English and Hungarian, and I’m very used to international, multilingual environments. Even when events include multiple languages, visual communication helps bridge gaps and create shared understanding. Graphic recording often works across language barriers in a way that text alone cannot.
Will the visuals match our brand or visual identity?
Yes. If you have brand guidelines, color palettes, fonts, or visual references, I’m happy to work with them. I adapt my drawing style so the graphic recording or illustrations feel aligned with your organization while still staying lively and human. If you don’t have strict branding, that’s completely fine too — I’ll choose a clear and balanced visual style that fits the context of your event.
Can participants interact with the visuals during the event?
Yes. One of the most beautiful things about graphic recording is that participants naturally gravitate toward the visuals as they are being created. They can point things out, ask questions, or reflect on what they see, which deepens understanding and sparks meaningful conversations. I always stay open and flexible while keeping an eye on the flow of the event. At the same time, I’m also open to creative, interactive solutions that encourage participation!
